About The Women’s Golf History Project

Celebrating the Spirit, Heart, and Heritage of Women’s Golf

The Women’s Golf History Project is a living archive and storytelling initiative dedicated to uncovering, preserving, and celebrating the untold stories of women in golf — from pioneers and champions to leaders, organisers, and everyday players who shaped the game and community we love.

Rooted in values of connection, competition, and community, the project explores the legacy of women’s golf through research, storytelling, and collaboration. It’s about belonging and visibility — recognising those who came before us and inspiring those yet to play.

Through curated histories, personal stories, and digital exhibits, the project brings to life the people, places, and moments that define women’s golf — past, present, and future.

✳️ Our Purpose

The Women’s Golf History Project exists to:

  • Recover and record the hidden histories of women’s golf.

  • Recognise the achievements and contributions of women at every level — from founders and champions to those who worked quietly behind the scenes.

  • Reconnect generations through storytelling, research, and community collaboration.

Rooted in the values of connection, competition, and community, the project celebrates women’s golf as both a sport and a social movement — one that has reflected and shaped women’s lives for over 135 years.

Through curated histories, personal stories, and digital exhibits, the project brings to life the people, places, and moments that define women’s golf — past, present, and future.

Founder

Curator, Storyteller, and Founder —Julie Walker Linkedin Profile

I’ve spent over 35 years leading innovation and transformation projects around the world — driven by a deep curiosity about people, purpose, and progress. My career began in technology, grew through consultancy and leadership, and has always centred on storytelling and change.

Golf entered my life in 2014 and quickly became much more than a sport — it became a window into community, history, and connection. Through golf, I discovered a story that hadn’t been told fully: the women who built and sustained the game quietly, and whose spirit continues to define it.

The Women’s Golf History Project brings together my lifelong passions for innovation, storytelling, and sport — to ensure the women who shaped golf are recognised, remembered, and celebrated.
